Body Basics gives the students a basic introduction to basic motor, aesthetic and rhythmic training, in order that they may perceive and control their own body and achieve teaching skills in the subject field. The course incorporates content from different movement cultures and is therefore compiled of several smaller courses with associated compulsory learning tests along the way.
The activity emerged as a result of the idea to create a portfolio in which multimedia such as video, audio and images might be included. There should be a possibility to turn the compulsory learning tests into “low stake” activities, giving the students an opportunity to revise their first draft material on the basis of feedback from their peers or the teacher. In addition, it was suggested to create a dynamic tool in which the students could currently compile prepared and revised material from different learning tests in the course. Finally, there was a need to have a more modern tool for documentation as a basis for testing.
Through the compilation of portfolios, the students were given the opportunity to use the feedback received on an ongoing basis during the course. The portfolio became a product in which the students could document their different learning outcomes; at the same time, it provided an opportunity for the students to reflect on the correlation between the different content elements and teaching methods of the course.
