This is one of the first university courses that the students complete after their secondary school education. The objective with the course is to provide them with a systematic overview of prehistoric cultural development from the last ice age and up until the year 0
A very large part of the degree programme consists of self-study, which places special requirements on the need to be able to organise knowledge. The students experience difficulties in focusing their self-study and reading in relation to the exam. The course has a very large syllabus which covers a period of more than 15,000 years. The students can therefore easily lose their perspective.
The checklist is issued to the students as an A3-sheet at the beginning of the first lesson. It does not function as a requirement, but rather as an offer from the lecturer. The checklist is filled out on an ongoing basis by the individual student or study group as the course progresses. Columns and rows in the checklist must be organised so that at the end of the course, the student has the opportunity of completing all fields, and thus has a complete checklist that can be used for revision and to provide an overview.
During the final lesson you can go over the complete checklist on the whiteboard/PowerPoint to correct any errors and as a repetition of the course for the whole class.
