Assignment

You can use the Assignment tool in Brightspace when students have to hand in assignments. With this tool you can e.g. keep an eye on which students have handed in which assignments and also choose from a number of options for the assignment.

There are several ways you can create an assignment.

Below you will find instructions for:

1. Create Assignment in "Activity Feed"

This guide shows you how to create different types of assignments on the frontpage of your course.

2. Create Assignment via "Content"

This guide shows you how to create an assignment under the content menu and how to share it with students.

3. Overview of Assignment

5. Dates for submission deadline and access

This guide shows you how you set due date, start date and end date.

7. The evaluation tool in Assignments

This guide gives you an overview of the evaluation tool built into assignments and how to release feedback to your students.

NOTE: If you plan to use inline feedback in group assignments using the annotation tool in Brightspace and there are sections in your course, please follow this detailed guide. It highlights a few crucial aspects for providing inline feedback on group submissions.

NOTE: Some students experience getting this error when their teacher has used the annotation tool:

This error can be worked around by removing the annotations again.

If students experience this error, please remove annotations from your feedback. To avoid having to retype all the feedback, you can download an assignment as a PDF and upload it as feedback for the assignment. You can then delete annotations.

8. Video feedback on an assignment

If you want to create video feedback on an assignment, this guide will show you how.

Normally Panopto is recommended for all videos, but we do not recommend it in this case if you do not want the feedback to be visible to all students in the course.

9. One assignment - several dates

This guide shows you set up an assignment to have several different submission dates and and availability dates.

10. Copy an assignment from one course to another

This guide shows how to copy an assignment from one course to one or more courses in a simple way.
