The purpose of the course is to give the student a thorough introduction to how disease/symptoms, functional capacity and context interact, including how the need for social-medical and rehabilitation interventions are identified and how coherent interventions from across professional fields and sectors are organised and coordinated.
Eight teachers are attached to the course, which made it difficult to create coherence. The students experienced repetitions and found it difficult to relate the syllabuses of the different teachers to each other. The teacher found that it was difficult for the students to relate the primary theoretical syllabus to its application in practice. Moreover, there was a need to motivate and activate the students more during the course.
The teacher chose to base their instruction on a colleague’s case instruction at an earlier stage in the course. In this activity, the students submitted rehabilitation plans attached to a case which they had prepared in groups.
Following the classroom instruction, the students indicated in menti.com using numbers between 1 and 5 to what extent they agreed as regards the preparation of the rehabilitation plan, and whether they experienced the course to be coherent (1 is “strongly disagree”, and 5 is “strongly agree”). In the evaluation of the spring semester of 2019, a score of 3.9 was achieved, based on responses from 30 students.
